With the recent warm temps in the Front Range, it's hard to believe winter will ever get here, but we have faith that colder days are just around the corner.
And you know what that means: ICE CLIMBING!!!
Whether it's your first time swinging tools, or you feel completely at home on ice, Paradox Sports is excited to announce new opportunities to get outside in Colorado this winter season, in addition to our annual Ouray trip.
Paradox Ice Meet-Up will focus on the basics of ice climbing. We'll discuss the necessary gear, risk management on and around the ice, and basic ice climbing techniques to get you started. If you've never climbed ice before, this will be the perfect intro. If you have climbed ice before, this will be a fun opportunity to brush up on your basics.
This clinic will be taught by an AMGA trained guide, who is passionate about and specializes in ice climbing.
It is not required to attend both Ice Meet-Ups, but you can if you would like!
Meeting Time: The clinic will run from 9AM-3PM. If you would like to carpool/caravan from the front range, please reach out to brittany@paradoxsports.org (carpools will leave around 7AM).
Crag Location: Chalk Creek Falls along Hwy 91 between Copper Mountain and Leadville.
Rating - 3
Beginner. There is a short approach along a frozen creek, but the trail is mostly flat and should be well packed.
Skill level: Beginner. A basic understanding of climbing is helpful, however, no prior ice climbing experience is necessary. If you have questions about the course contact Sam at sam@paradoxsports.org
